Tyler Maddocks - City council

Born and raised in Castlegar,  I’ve attended local public schools and graduated from Selkirk College. After successfully completing my Business Administration Diploma at Selkirk College in Castlegar, I relocated to Vancouver, where I was employed as a Sales Account Executive for a marketing firm.

At 24 years old, now back in Castlegar, I’m currently working at Growth Financial with Heritage Credit Union, as a Financial Planner Assistant and am in the process of completing the Investment Funds in Canada, and the Canadian Securities courses.

I am running to add a different perspective, and bring new fresh ideas to the table. I have a strong desire to get youth more involved in all areas of community life, while maintaining a strong focus on our working families and seniors.
I’ve always had political service ambitions in my life as I have grown up with a family background that has been heavily involved in Castlegar City service:

•             Grandfather (Mayor of Kinnaird)
•             Great Uncle (Mayor of Castlegar)
•             Father (City Council, Castlegar and District Economic Development Board)

Now as I have come back to the town where I grew up I believe that I can best serve my community by bringing my youth, experiences and energy to the realm of representing the citizens of Castlegar.

I believe over the last few terms, the City Council has done a wonderful job in serving this community. It would be an honour to work alongside any of the current council members. Ongoing issues in the community:

  • Youth of the City
  • Getting the youth more involved in all areas of community life.
  • Social Media
  •  Water meters
  •  Promoting conservation of our fresh water resources
  • Educating the residents on benefits
  • Comparison of rates versus usage
  • Ownership/Liabilities
  •  Business Development
  • Job creation
  • Recreation
  •  Development of facilities

I’m very aware that I have a lot to learn in this field but, if given the chance to serve my community, I am willing to work with my colleagues and the citizens of Castlegar to bring my ideas forth and become the best representative of this wonderful city that I can be.
