The Castlegar Health Centre is open for business, despite being boarded up after an accident yesterday.

Police were called to assist fire crews at roughly 1:54 p.m. yesterday, after a car crashed into the entry to the facility.

Castlegar RCMP Const. Paul Laughman said a woman was backing her car out of a parking spot when her foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator instead.

The car hit the entrance at a fairly high rate of speed and became wedged in.

“Fire crews were able to help the two occupants climb out of the car through the passenger window,” Laughman said.

Neither the two occupants nor their dog were injured.

Laughman said alcohol and speed weren’t factors in the incident, and it’s unlikely a violation ticket will be issued.

“It was basically just an honest mistake,” he said.
