BC Hydro completes Arrow Lakes Reservoir boat ramp improvements

Representatives from the Province, BC Hydro, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, the Revelstoke Rod and Gun Club, and other partners celebrated the completion of the Shelter Bay Provincial Park boat ramp upgrade project on Saturday May 7, 2016 near Revelstoke.
The Shelter Bay boat ramp project is the last of eight boat ramp projects to improve boater access to Arrow Lakes Reservoir. BC Hydro also upgraded existing boat ramps at McDonald Creek Park, Fauquier, Edgewood and Syringa Creek Park and built new ramps at Nakusp, Burton, and Anderson Point.
This event follows an earlier event this week at the new Anderson Point boat ramp. On Friday May 6, 2016, representatives from the City of Castlegar, Regional District of Central Kootenay, BC Hydro and Columbia Power celebrated the completion of the new Anderson Point boat ramp.
“The upgraded boat ramps will provide boaters with improved access to Arrow Lakes Reservoir for many years to come,”said Bill Bennett, Minister of Energy and Mines and MLA for Kootenay East. “I’d like to congratulate BC Hydro, the construction team, and all the stakeholders who came together to make this boat ramp better and safer.”
The new Anderson Point boat ramp is located just north of the community of Deer Park and features a concrete ramp, a floating walkway, a floating log breakwater to protect from wind and waves, turnarounds at the top of the ramp and mid-ramp, a paved upper parking and small gravel lower parking area and toilet facilities. There is also a gravel transition at the end of the ramp that leads from the concrete surface elevation to the reservoir floor.
