Two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries this morning after a three-vehicle wreck at the airport junction, according to Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dave Johnson.

“Car One was stopped for a flagger because of the construction there. Car Two was slowing, preparing to stop. Car Three hit Car Two, which then hit Car One,” he said, adding it was actually two cars and an SUV. Each vehicle had only the driver, no passengers.

“Two people were transported to hospital then released with minor injuries,” he said, adding the driver of Car Three was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care.

The emergency call came in at 8:39 a.m. and the highway was reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic for about half an hour. Two of the cars remained drivable after the crash, and one had to be towed.
