A motor vehicle incident in Robson Saturday and another on Columbia Avenue during rush hour Monday had a lot of people asking questions but ended up being fairly minor.

The first happened at around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, according to RCMP Cpl. Dave Johnson, and Castlegar and Robson Fire Departments, along with police and BCAS, responded.

“It was a single vehicle MVI – (the driver) lost control, skidded off the road, rolled and tumbled,” Johnson said. “The single occupant of the vehicle was transported to hospital to be checked out, but there was no immediate, apparent injury.

“It was very lucky – the vehicle itself was a write-off.”

He said police believe speed was a factor, but alcohol was not. Charges against the driver are pending.

Then Monday, at about 4 p.m., there was a three car pile-up on Columbia Avenue involving a chip truck, according to Johnson. A vehicle stopped to make a left-hand turn, another vehicle stopped behind it, but the chip truck following wasn’t able to stop in time. The truck struck the vehicle in front of it, which in turn struck the first vehicle.

No one was injured, but traffic was slowed along Columbia between about 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. while the accident was dealt with.
