A $75,000 winning BC649 ticket sold at the Castlegar Pharmasave has been claimed, by Barb, 67, and Ted, 75, Healey, of Castlegar.

In an interview from BCLC offices in Kamloops, where they went to claim their winnings, the Healeys told The Source they didn’t get much sleep last night, given all the kerfuffle.

“This is pretty exciting,” Barb said.

The two have been buying 649 tickets twice a week for decades, only winning $80 on two occassions … until now.

Barb, originally from Kamloops, and Ted, originally from Nelson, have lived in Castlegar for 19 years. They have two grown children and two grandchildren (the youngest generation aged seven and five).

The Healeys said they plan to spend thier windfall on their kids and grandkids, to pay bills, and to travel south a bit, “when it gets cold and snows in Castlegar,” said Barb.

BCLC has promised a photo of the winning couple later today.
