Castlegar man arrested in connection with drugs; guns

 A Castlegar man has been arrested and charged with several offences, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a loaded restricted firearm.

Police arrested 48-year-old Brian Fowler in the early morning hours of July 22, after following on information regarding a possible prohibited driver and male involved in the drug trade, according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“Officers located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and located the male in question in the passenger seat,” she said. “During the investigation, officers located a noteable quantity of narcotics in the vehicle, as well as a loaded handgun under the passenger seat.”   Fowler made his first appearance in Court on July 22 and was released on several conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 18.
