A Trail woman has died after a serious accident near Violin Lake Saturday, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Darren Oelke.

“On July 26 at 5:58 p.m. the Trail and Greater District Detachment, BC Ambulance Service and the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue were notified of a serious motor vehicle accident in the Violin Lake area near Trail,” he said.

“Police and fire rescue eventually located a single vehicle rollover on a gravel road near Casino.

“A 43-year-old female from Trail was found deceased at the scene. A 38 year-old-male, also from Trail, was found to have minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

He said police believe the woman was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, and this was a, “significant contributing factor in her death”.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

“Seat belts save lives, please wear your seatbelt at all times,” he concluded.
