The 15th Annual Pass Creek Fall Fair is now less than two weeks away, and it’s a cannot-miss event in the area.

Donna Smith, secretary of the exhibition society that puts on both the fall fair and the annual Bluegrass Jamboree, said there are as many as 30 vendors this year, with tons of live entertaiment, exhibitions and activities for the whole family.

Smith, one of the society founders, said the popularity of various attractions is based largely on age.

“I think the kids really like the farm animals and games and things geared towad them, while the teenagers gravititate toward Lazer Tag,” she said. “More mature (attendees) seem to really enjoy the antique cars and machinery … and everyone loves the dog and horse shows.”

Speaking of dog shows, $500 will be up for grabs in the first annual West Kootenay Canine Frisbee Championship on Sunday – Smith says to bring your own frisbee, your leashed dog – and something to scoop his poop, please.

She said there will be live entertainment all weekend, and most events and attractions at the fall fair are free. Tickets are $5 at the gate (kids six and under get in free).

“It costs about $30,000 to to put this on, so we pay for that through our concession and gate proceeds,” she said. “It’s relatively inexpensive to bring the whole family for the day, and there’s lots to keep everyone busy and having fun.”

There will also be mini golf, a viewing zoo, free pony rides, a bouncy house and more – for specific details, check out the fall fair website at www.passcreekfair.com or call 250-365-6885 for more information.

The Pass Creek fairgrounds will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24, 25 and 26.
