From the files of NPD — Red Deer woman charged with 90-Day Roadside Prohibition
A Red Deer woman started her party early, 8 a.m. MDT, before being arrested Thursday (August 2) in the parking lot of the A&W restaurant in Nelson.
At 5:25 p.m., Nelson Police received a report of a suspected impaired driver in the lot of the A&W.
Officers arrived to find 55-year-old female Alberta resident displaying symptoms of impairment by alcohol.
When NPD officers administered an approved reading device, the woman failed and was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
A large quantity of partially consumed alcohol was seized from the vehicle the woman admittedly said had consumed some at approximately 8 a.m. prior to her departure from Red Deer.
Aggressive female kicks officers in fit of rage
Nelson Police were called to a North Shore residence to a female allegedly damaging the inside of the home at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Members arrived to find the 44-year-old Nelson female in a hysterical state inside the residence.
The female then fled the residence on foot and NPD members initiated pursuit.
The female managed to gain entry into an unoccupied North Shore residence where she was arrested under the Mental Health Act and transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital (KLH) for further assessment.
During transport to KLH, the female became extremely aggressive towards police and kicked two NPD members in the leg area.
One of the members sustained minor injury from the assault.
The female received continued treatment at KLRH and, to date, no charges are being forwarded in relation to this incident.
Nelson man arrested for assault during domestic dispute
Earlier Wednesday, (12:50 a.m.) Nelson Police received a report of a domestic dispute with violence from a female residing in the Fairview area.
NPD members attended the scene and subsequently arrested an intoxicated 29-year-old Nelson man for allegedly assaulting his wife.
During arrest and transport the male became aggressive towards members and, at one point, spit on one of the members.
The male faces a charge of Assault and Assault Police Officer and has been remanded in custody until his appearance in Nelson Court on August 14, 2012.
Male detained under Mental Health Act
On Monday (July 30) at 2:20 p.m. officers were called to the Chahko Mika Mall by staff after a man refused to leave the premises.
The male had been refused entry due to previous incidences where he behaved inappropriately and caused disturbance inside the Mall. The 26-year-old male had fled the scene prior to police arrival however he was located near the Lakeside Soccer Fields.
NPD members know the male and his behavior during questioning raised concerns over his mental health.
The male was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act and became aggressive towards NPD members.
The male spit in the face of one of the NPD members and was thereby arrested for Assault to a Police Officer.
The male was held for Nelson Court on Tuesday (July 31) where he was released on conditions.
