Castlegar Youth Employment Services is at it again, offering free First Aid and Food Safe certifications on July 17 and 18, for youth between 15 and 30 years of age.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer this service to local youth,” says Kristel Tymchen, program coordinator. “It can be such a difficult cycle when you are applying for jobs, but the jobs require specific training and you don’t have the money to take that training, because you don’t have a job …”

Not only do youth receive Food Safe or First Aid certifications for free, they also leave the workshops with valuable information on resume writing, preparing for interviews, job searching, conflict resolution in the workplace, communication and workplace safety.

One youth who went through the training writes: “I thought I had my resume pretty solid, but now I know I have to build on it.”

“The success rate of youth gaining employment after attending the training has been excellent.,” says Polly Campbell, workshop facilitator. “I’m constantly receiving feedback from youth that ,once they applied the information introduced in the workshops, their job search became much more successful. It’s so nice to know that we are able to offer information that has an immediate benefit to the youth.”

Castlegar Youth Employment Services would like to remind you that the spaces are limited and pre-registration is required, so guarantee yourself a spot by calling Cambell today at 250-365-1027 to register.
