For the past several years, Millennium Park has undergone many changes. The path allowed access and allowed the community to stroll through nature. The ongoing additions for the past several years have just taken away from the beauty of the walkway, in my opinion.
Now I am greeted by tractors driving down the paths, sometimes sections are closed and orange fencing has been the norm for several years. The peace is gone. The swimming holes remain empty for much of the year and are an eye sore in comparison to the natural pool that used to exist. Land has been cleared, structures put up and every week there seems to be news of more construction to take place.
It doesn't seem there is any consideration for the nature that used to exist and that is still trying to call the riverside home. It was what used to lure me to the park. Numbers to the park no doubt rose last year, but I think it was due to the publicity, events and advertising which could have brought larger numbers without impacting the riverside with so much construction and change.
It's becoming overkill.
As a Canadian, I take pride in our nature. Such a shame that the city is allowing it to disappear. I think we need to promote our natural beauty and stop spending money on destroying it.
