Police seek witnesses to MVA near Genelle

On Nov. 19, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Trail RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 22 near Genelle, according to RCMP Cpl. Mike Halskov.

Upon arrival it was determined that a passenger vehicle had collided with an oncoming transport truck. The lone driver of the passenger vehicle sustained critical injuries and has been air lifted to hospital for emergency care. The lone driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries. At this time, investigators have information to believe that the driver of the passenger vehicle may have entered the transport truck’s lane. The cause remains under investigation.

The highway is closed in both directions as police investigate this crash and make the highway safe for travel. Traffic control personnel are on scene, and motorists are asked to obey their direction. Motorists may monitor DriveBC.ca for updates regarding the highway closure.

West Kootenay Traffic Services (WKTS) in Nelson has taken conduct of this investigation and is seeking additional witnesses, including anyone with dashboard camera video. Anyone with information may call WKTS in Nelson at 250-354-5180.
