The Hutchinson Creek is one of two fires being reported in the Southeast Fire Centre. The other fire — .02 hectare Hall Creek — is north of Creston in the East Kootenay and was caused by lightning.

The Hall Creek fire was reported Saturday, June 19.

Effective at noon PST on Friday, June 11, 2021, Category 3 open burning, as defined in the Wildfire Regulation, will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, which includes the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District.
