Modeled after CBC’s “The Dragons’ Den”, where qualifying entrepreneurs pitch their business idea to a group of potential investors, Junior Dragons’ Den, the West Kootenay wide business contest for youth entrepreneurs, is taking flight!

Background – spearheaded by Community Futures, students in Grades 8-12 from throughout the West Kootenay-Boundary region were invited to submit a business concept paper and a brief ,one-and-a-half to two-minute video elevator pitch, explaining their business idea.

Submissions were then evaluated based upon: finances, marketability, the product or service and the overall plan presented.

“We’re excited and inspired by the level of detail and sophistication presented by all applicantsand would like to congratulate everyone on a job well done” said Don Freschi, GM,CFDC Greater Trail.

“Business concepts ranged from Eco Exhaust filters to Outfit matching apps and we can’t wait to see these concepts evolve through a focussed business planning process, with contestants presenting to a panel of judges and a live studio audience June 6 at the Charles Bailey theatre in Trail,” he said.
