June 16th, 2011

The Castlegar Garden Club will host the 10th Anniversary Castlegar & Area Garden Tour on June 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. A soaring celebration . . . atmospheric and enthralling, an authentic adventure into the far reaches of the gardening world.

Join the Castlegar Garden Club and be swept away into the wonderfully original and richly imaginative gardens. Images and inspirations will linger with you for days. Enjoy 10 gardens in the Castlegar Area.   During the June 26th garden tour, catch flute music of the Wind River Flute Quartet in the garden of Jennifer Cheveldave from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Become inspired by local artists, Sandra Donohue, Mirja Vahala, and friends, creating art in the garden at Windborne Bed & Breakfast in Robson.   The City of Castlegar is generously supporting this year’s garden tour through the CBT Community Initiatives Program. Admission is by donation. A portion of the proceeds will go to B.E.A.K.S., Castlegar’s Bird Emergency and Kare Society.   Fostering improved communication and a spirit of cooperation among gardeners, garden groups, community groups and local government is among the goals for 2011. We promote the garden tours in Trail, the Slocan Valley, Grand Forks, Fruitvale, Creston and encourage our members and community to attend. If it promotes gardening, the Castlegar Garden Club is all for it . . . our philosophy is all about sharing and not competition.   A Garden Tour Brochure with map is availably locally at the Castlegar & District Library, Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, Castlegar Station Museum, Community Complex, Home Hardware, Columbia Valley Greenhouses, Safeway, and Johnny’s Groceries (Robson) or by email.
