Call for Entry: Artists/Heritage Venues for Columbia Basin Culture Tour – Aug. 12-13

Call for entry: registrations are being accepted for artists/venues in the Columbia Basin to participate in the Ninth Annual Columbia Basin Culture Tour (CBCT), a celebration of culture taking place Aug. 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Charles Bailey Theatre is set to pull back the curtains and welcome to the stage the Youth Arts Festival Third Annual Talent Slam, a display of talent chosen in auditions by youth ranging in age from 15-29, according to Miriam Needoba, director of the Oxygen Arts Centre.

She said there will be two shows – one in Nelson Feb. 23 and another in Trail on March 4.

The Kootenay Gallery of Art in Castlegar opens its 2017 Exhibition Schedule with two shows that explore migration and settlement through the perspective of East Asian Canadian artists who reference the West Kootenays. Plant Memory and High Muck a Muck both open March 3 at 7 p.m. and run until April 15.

The CDF’s mandate to distribute $600,000.00 provided by CBT over a three year period (2014-2016) is now coming to an end. The philosophy behind this CBT initiative was for certain geographic sub-regions located in the Columbia Basin to come together and invest in strategic investments within the sub-region. The Lower Columbia sub-region is made up of the communities of Rossland, Warfield, Trail, Montrose, Fruitvale, Area A and Area B of the Kootenay Boundary Regional District.
