Sculpturewalk gala this weekend

The first Castlegar Sculpturewalk program has been an overwhelming success. Over 1,500 people have voted and a Gala Awards event is being held at the Element Bar and Grill on Oct. 16.
The purpose is to honour the artists who have graced our community with their talent and present cash awards and the selection of the People’s Choice that will be purchased by the city. The launch for the 2011 program will start the same night, with auctioned packages including a golf package, entertainment package and original sculptures.
Tickets are $20 per person and available at the Element, Mountain FM and at 250-365-0425. Dinner entrees range between $15-25. Reservations for dinner must be made between 5-5:45 p.m. at the Element at 250-365-8066.
The event will comprise dinner between 5-7 pm, Artistic merit and People’s choice awards from 7-8 p.m. and a comedy theatre performance from 8-10 p.m. with auctioned packages being announced at 10 p.m.
The theatre performance is by the Many Hats Theatre Company from Penticton with a play called Sylvia. It is an adult comedy about a couple of empty nesters who inherit a dog that challenges their marital bliss.
Come down and have some fun, support Sculpturewalk and participate in making the 2011 program as successful as the first one! Opportunities to sponsor a sculpture, lease sculptures and purchasing of the 2010 pieces will be made available.
