Pop by City Hall Thursday and you’ll see a distressing lack of fashion sense … but don’t worry, it’s for a cause.

Tomorrow is the city’s Tacky Sweater Day, when they lower the thermostat at City Hall by three degrees for a small but symbolic nod to environmental conservation.

Kevin Chernoff, city councillor and chair of the city’s green committee, says an ‘every little bit helps’ attitude is the key to a sustainable future.

“It’s kind of a no-brainer,” he said. “Holding a ‘Tacky Sweater Day’ doesn’t cost us a penny, and it’s a fun way to rally around stewardship.”

The nation-wide event is being celebrated by communities across Canada tomorrow, and Chernoff encouraged locals to pop by City Hall Thursday and offer their support to those City Staffers willing to don ridiculous garb to keep warm for a cause.

“Obviously, the more people we get on board, the better,” he said.
