The Kootenay Rhythm Dragons are rolling out the red carpet for new paddlers with a membership drive Saturday, March 10 at the Community First Health Co-op Building in Nelson.

The membership drive is set for 10 a.m. to noon on the lower level CCCR Office at 518 Lake Street.

Coffee and muffins are provided.

The Kootenay Rhythm Dragons began as Nelson’s first dragon boat team in January, 2004 with a group of dedicated women.

Within months the organizational structure was in place with designation as a non-profit association.

Through commitment and hard work, funds were raised in Nelson community to purchase the association’s Green and Yellow Dragon Boat

The boat is located across from Lakeside Park. Paddling is scheduled three times a week. There are different groups for all interest levels.

So anyone interested should come learn the basics of stroke mechanics to achieve rhythmic paddling and be part of a great team who have fun.
