Williams Lake man arrested for additional violent offences against women

An April 2013 Smithers investigation into an incident of forcible confinement in a vehicle, has led to several more victims being identified in the Williams Lake area. The alleged incidents predate the Smithers BC matter and spanned from 2007 to 2012 involving the same commercial truck driver.

On April 8, Robert Fagg was arrested by the Smithers RCMP and charged with several violent offences (Forcible Confinement, Assault) after his victim escaped from the Semi Truck where she was being held by Robert Fagg.

As a result of the Smithers RCMP investigation, the North District R/GIS unit began an investigation into Fagg’s activities and former relationships in the Williams Lake area after receiving information from other possible victims. Fagg is 24 years of age and had been a resident of the WIlliams Lake area.

On July 22, members of the North District Regional General Investigation Section traveled to Quesnel to arrest Fagg.

As a result of this investigation, a report was forwarded to Provincial Crown Counsel, who approved seven new charges against  Fagg. The offences took place over a five year period from 2007 to 2012 and involved 3 different female victims who had been in a relationship with Fagg.

The following charges have been laid:

  • 1 count of Break and Enter s. 348 C.C.C.
  • 1 count of Forcible Confinement s. 279 C.C.C.
  • 2 counts of Sexual Assault s. 271 C.C.C.
  • 3 counts of Assault s. 266 C.C.C.  

Fagg’s latest court appearance, on July 23, saw him remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance of July 31 in Williams Lake.
