Caslegar RCMP are once again thanking and congratulating Castlegar Search and Rescue (SAR) for a job well done, according to top cop Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“On March 5, at approximately 6:06 p.m., Castlegar RCMP received a call stating that a sledder had gotten separated from his friend while out sledding in the Goose Creek area ( outside Castlegar), and he had last been seen at approximately 2:30 p.m.,” Mathew explained. “Attempts to locate him had been unsuccessful.”

She said SAR was called in, along with some local sledders who are very familiar with the area and pitched in to help serch.

“At 10:40 p.m, SAR made voice contact with the sledder, a 30-year-old local man, and he was located at just after 11 p.m.,” she said. “He was uninjured and in good health.

“We’d like to, yet again, express our thanks to the Castlegar search and rescue team, as well as the local sledders who assisted in the search.”
