Member of Parliament, Richard Cannings is hosting a town hall discussion in Rossland on Monday, July 4 seeking views and ideas from area residents about how to address climate change in Canada.

Cannings was approached by local organizations with a keen interest in providing community input towards the Government of Canada’s nationwide climate action consultation.

I have heard very clearly from many people in the riding that they are committed to taking action on climate change and are looking to see strong federal leadership,” stated Cannings. “I am pleased to be able to facilitate this important conversation and to bring a strong West Kootenay message back to Ottawa.”

The town hall will be hosted by Cannings and facilitated by community members. For those unable to attend in person that would still like to be part of this important conversation Cannings is encouraging them to send him their views and ideas at Richard.Cannings@parl.gc.ca. People can also use the government’s online portal at www.Canada.ca/climateaction.

Scientific evidence is clear that climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. We need to act collectively and we need strong leadership if we are to address it” said Cannings. “There is a wealth of passion and knowledge throughout the region and we need to share that with the federal government.”
