LETTER: Grateful for the blessing of world-class musical talent here in the Koots
Dear Editor,
Every once in a while, an experience or event comes along that is so lovely and uplifting that it speaks not only to my heartstrings, but also to my soul.
Friday night’s (May 10) vocal duo performance by Christina Nolan and Kelly Coubrough (accompanied by Anna King), brought such an experience here to Castlegar at the Castlegar United Church entitled, Songs My Mother Taught Me.
For a brief evening, as I sat and listened to the musical talent and harmonies of these ladies, cares of the world were swept away and replaced with uplifting melodies and song!
With both Kelly and Christina having had years of operatic and musical theater experience (in Vancouver and Calgary, respectively), their repertoire that evening included performing an evening of amazing vocal performances in a multitude of musical genres, accompanied by the incomparable pianist Anna King.
I came away from listening to them, not only feeling blessed, but touched deeply by their obvious skill and love of music. I was reminded of how lucky we are in the Kootenays to have such musically talented people among us who are willing to share their gifts with us by making this opportunity possible! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Sicnerely,
Gloria Manning-Smee
Castlegar
