The Kiwanis & Rotary Clubs of Trail and the City of Trail invite everyone to celebrate Canada Day on Saturday, July 1 at Gyro Park with family-friendly activities from 10 am to 2 pm. A celebratory fireworks show will be scheduled for that evening at Gyro Park, if the current fire ban is lifted. Event-goers can check trail.ca/CanadaDay for updates.

“We’re looking forward to a fun-filled day in Trail’s beautiful Gyro Park to celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday,” said Chris Vlanich, President of the Kiwanis Club of Trail and Chair of the Canada Day Committee. “From 10 am to 2 pm, we will provide free games, face painting and balloon creations for kids while also selling food at the Kiwanis BBQ and Gyro Park food concession. At noon, we will host the official ceremonies and wrap up with live music from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. Don’t forget your lawn chair and sunscreen as Gyro Park also offers a spray park, an inclusive playground, a beach area, covered picnic tables, green space and a skate park.”

It will be a bustling day in our community as incrEDIBLE Trail will be hosting a farmers’ market on the Esplanade from 10 am to 2 pm. “We encourage event-goers to explore both options to make the most of the day,” said Vlanich. “Parking may be tight at Gyro Park; so, if you are able, park downtown to enjoy the market, then walk over the bridge to join us at the park.”

Sponsors and partners are essential to the success of the annual event. “We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada and we are very grateful to receive generous funding from several local organizations,” said Vlanich. “We also have many community partners who contribute their time and resources for the various activities. If there are any groups available to help with the planning of next year’s event, we’d love to hear from them.”
