Rossland male criminally charged after spray painting incidents
Over a period of approximately three months, the Castlegar RCMP had received a volume of reports where damages were caused to property by spray painting, according to RCMP Sgt. Monty Taylor. In one incident, he said, after a large vehicle was spray painted, repair for damages were estimated at $80,000.
“The police investigation determined similarities among many of these incidents and in interviewing witnesses and reviewing security footage, a suspect and an associated vehicle were identified,” Taylor said.
“On Sept. 2, the Castlegar RCMP located the suspect vehicle, with the suspect, in the 1700 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar. The male was taken into police custody and during the search subsequent to the male’s arrest, police located items to further their investigation. The male was later released from police custody on bail conditions to later appear in Castlegar Provincial Court.”
The Castlegar RCMP forwarded their investigation to the British Columbia Prosecution Service and on Oct, 15, 2024, 39-year-old Kyle Hahn, of Rossland, was officially charged with mischief contrary to section 430 of the Criminal Code. Hahn was scheduled to appear in Castlegar Court October 16, 2024 and thereafter as directed by the Court.
