As cases climb the West Kootenay, both in Nelson and in Castlegar, Interior Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Nelson Jubilee Manor long-term care home.

In a media release Friday, Interior Health said as of Thursday afternoon, one patient and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay wanted to relay the information to the public regarding two fires of note in the Southeast Fire Centre — Akokli Creek near Boswell on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake and Cultus Creek on the west side of Kootenay Lake.

As of Friday, July 23, 2021, 80.3% (3,723,154) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 58.1% (2,692,024) have received their second dose.

In addition, 81.3% (3,517,529) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 61.4% (2,654,367) have received their second dose.

Last week Copcan reached a major milestone by completing the installation of all major underground utilities. They also completed an Allan Block wall on the north side, near 24th Street and the shallow utility ducting. Excavation of the road subgrade is 95 per cent complete and the 24th Street intersection will be excavated closer to the paving work.
