During a recent Counter Attack Road Check, officers removed more than $30,000 of illicit drugs from the streets and arrested two people Nelson Police Department said in a media release Friday.

The arrests happened at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday, July 28th during the summer Counter Attack blitz by NPD officers.

Long weekends mean more vehicles – and crashes – on B.C. roads said the Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC) said in a recent media release.

ICBC said that an average, three people are killed and 560 injured in crashes over the B.C. Day long weekend every year — including in the Southern Interior where one person is killed and 85 people are injured in 350 crashes.

A bizarre incident Saturday afternoon brought police to the site of a home invasion, according to Trail RCMP NOC i/c Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
