If you spot a fire in Syringa Provincial Park this month, it’s likely due to a prescribed burn.
The Ministry of Natural Resource Operations and BC Parks are planning a 20-hectare prescribed burn near the campground and day-use area to reduce the wildfire risk and maintain local ecosystems.

The RCMP and the Integrated Road Safety Units from across BC announced they have caught over 3,000 people using electronic devices while driving during February’s Distracted Driving Campaign.
“Last year, distracted driving was a contributing factor in 104 collision fatalities in British Columbia," said RCMP superintendent Mike Diack, “E” Division Traffic Services.

As I write this, the Vancouver Canucks are in the number one spot in the National Hockey League (NHL). Canucks forward Daniel Sedin currently has the most points in the league, and his twin brother Henrik has the third most points (Henrik won the Hart Trophy for most points in the NHL last season).

The second game of the KIJHL Murdoch Division playoff series between Beaver Valley Nitehawks and Castlegar Rebels has forced the Selkirk Saints to re-schedule their weekend set with the Trinity Western Spartans in B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League action.
The two games are now set for the NDCC Arena Complex.
