Grand Forks RCMP are investigating reports of attempted fraud where an individual has telephoned to ask for money. The individual appears to be targeting elderly people, stating that their grandchild is needing money to pay bail or lawyer fees.

The BC Recreation and Parks Association’s (BCRPA) Walk BC initiative is launching its newest venture and online resource, an interactive walking route map. As the first map of its kind, it features walking routes and recreational facilities from around British Columbia.

In 2000, then Liberal Finance Minister Paul Martin cut corporate income tax rates by a quarter, from 28 percent to 21 percent, phased in over five years. The Harper government has continued those cuts from 21 per cent in 2007 to 18 percent today, and is ignoring NDP advice and further reducing corporate taxes 15 percent by 2012.

 Dear Editor, As a visitor to the very pleasant town of Castlegar, and when visiting Red Mountain, I slipped on the ice in the parking lot.   It was a hard fall, and I felt it should be checked out by the First Aid attendants in the Ski Patrol Booth.

The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture presents Barney Bentall, sponsored by Teck, Trail Operations. Bentall will be fresh from the Olympics, having welcomed the torch with his group the Grand Cariboo Opry and playing free shows in Whistler Village during the games. He will be arriving at the Rossland Miners' Hall Sunday March 14th.

Kudos to the doctors and nurses who have had the courage to speak out about the proposed cutbacks in the OR department at KBRH in Trail. I would like to throw in my two bits' worth and make it personal.
