Police are asking for public asisstance as they investigate a break-and-enter into the Brilliant Power Plant Thursday night, according to RCMP Const. Sherri Karn.

“Sometime over night betwen Sept. 24 and Sept. 25,  culprit(s) used a metal bar to pry open a locked gate and enter the secured compound,” she said, explaining the only property damage immediately apparent was the gate.

“Right now, we haven’t determind exactly what was taken,” she said, adding RCMP are asking residents who may have seen anything or anyone suspicious to notify police.

She also said this sort of break-in can’t be viewed as just a “prank”, as the potential consequences are very serious.

“It’s also a publc safety concern,” she said. “There’s a lot of high-voltage wires in that compound. Without a doubt, it can be a dangerous place for people who are there when they shouldn’t be.”

Residents with any information are urged to call the detachment at 365-7721, or to place an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
