Columbia Power has provided $1000 in support of the 8th Annual Under 19 (U19) Film Festival, a showcase for youth filmmakers aged 10 through 18 years. The event occurs this Saturday at the Royal Theatre in Trail which will see prizes handed out in six categories for best short film in the genres of drama, documentary, animation, recycling, sports/adventure and positive environmental change,  as well as awards for Judge’s Choice, Audience Favourite, and Best Original Music.

Debbie Martin (standing far right), Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Services at Columbia Power, met with Rossland Council for Arts and Culture Administrator, Rachael Roussin (far left, bottom row), and the U19 organizing committee earlier this week. Youth from across the West Kootenay will gather to see the work of the brightest, and youngest, filmmakers in the region. U19 gets underway at noon, April 14 at the Royal Theatre.
