Ignite Kootenay Women's Conference introduces speaker line-up

We live in one of those amazing communities where women have an impressively strong presence in the business world.  Women-owned or ran businesses and organizations are thriving throughout the Kootenays, and we are stronger for it.

The Ignite Kootenay Women’s Conference is bringing several of these powerhouse women together next weekend to celebrate the ladies we already are, and empower us to go after our dreams and the lives we want.  Eight remarkable women, with a variety of life experiences and backgrounds, will speak – uplifting. inspiring, and also challenging the attendees of the conference.

Charlotte Ferreux, owner of Thrive Coaching and Consulting, will kick off the event Friday evening.  Charlotte been practicing & coaching personal development for over 15 years, as well as having 20+ years of restaurant, retail and fashion industry experience, focusing primarily in leadership and senior management roles.

Charlotte will speak twice over the course of the weekend.  Her first presentation will focus on the past, and getting clear on what’s holding you back.  She will discuss limiting beliefs and all the things that may be creating doubt, delay or division in achieving or choosing the next level of your life.  She will provide tools on how to let go and move forward.

On Saturday, Charlotte will address creating the next level of your life and setting it into reality. She will deconstruct how to set goals and provide a working plan on how to achieve them.

Amanda Zaal will also speak Friday evening.  She was just 24 years old when doctors told her she was about to die from a rare brain tumour. Today, six years after her terminal diagnosis, Amanda is a registered nurse, published author, public speaker, and owner of Aim+Glow – a movement to inspire health and wholeness. She will share her incredible story and journey.

Dr. Diana Draper is a Naturopathic Physician and owner of Clear Water Naturopathic Medicine in Castlegar BC. She believes every body has a blueprint to health and is committed to using her expertise to help people access that blueprint and live the quality of life they desire.

Diana will be also be presenting twice.  Her first session will address anxiety. She will explain exactly what anxiety is, how it affects our health, and how it can be managed and overcome.  Later, she will discuss “women guilt”, and how it has been passed down through the generations. She will walk us through how to explore our guilt, identify it as a pattern and give us the tools we need to kick it to the curb.

Lynn Ujvary is the founder, owner, designer and confidence-inspiration expert of the fashion concept SWISH.  She has an Applied Arts Degree in Fashion Design, and 35 years of experience in retail and customer service.

Lynn  will be speaking on ‘identity” from the perspective of change and how your closet reflects who you are and how you want to be received.

Monique Bogaardt entered the financial profession in 2005.  She is an advisor at Assante Financial Management in downtown Castlegar. She has a deep understanding of the unique demands, concerns and issues of women business owners and professionals, and works to provide solid advice and financial strategies to all.

 

She is passionate about helping women become empowered and take control of their financial well being.  During her presentation, Monique will explore the unique ways that women relate to money, examine some of the emotions behind our financial behaviour, and discuss how we can impact our own financial future.  

 

Maryann Puliz has always had a passion for fitness and helping other women find their potential.  In April 2018, she opened Fitbox Crosstraining in downtown Castlegar. She is now a personal trainer and a crossfit and nutrition coach.

 

Maryann will be speaking on body image, self-care, and learning to love yourself.

 

Eve Ridler and Angie Olson own and operate Active Education Coaching in Kamloops, BC.  They have taken their vast knowledge of fitness, healthy living, hormones and mindset training, and created wellness programs designed to fit the individual in all aspects of life.

 

Eve and Angie will be speaking on mindset, understanding what motivates you, and how to implement practices to sustain positive change.

 

Rhonda Shears is an Instructor in the Human Services Program at Selkirk College. Prior to working at the College, she worked with the Ministry of Children and Family Development for 23 years as a director, a supervisor of an integrated service team, and as a front-line child protection social worker.  

 

Rhonda will share her powerful personal story about losing a spouse to suicide, her healing journey, and what she learned along the way about shame, self-worth, and resilience.
