Two 18-year-old suspects have been arrested and are facing charges after two residential break-and-enters in the city.

Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew said the first break-and-enter, on Oct. 23 on Chickadee Lane, saw jewelery stolen, while the second, on Bridgeview Crescent on Nov. 7, saw several thousands of dollars in cash taken.

“Fingerprint evidence led us to the suspects who, when arrested, had some of the stolen property in their possession,” Mathew said.

Both incidences occurred when the homeowners were away from their residences.

The two men are facing charges of break-and-enter at their first court appearance in January 2011, but their names will not be released until the charges are sworn.
