In case you think working a police beat is routine:

On Aug. 28 at about 12:50 a.m., “Castlegar RCMP were requested to assist Emergency Health Services with dealing with an intoxicated male who required medical attention,” said Cpl. Mike Mysko.

“Upon police arrival, one of the ambulance attendants indicated that a female had attempted to steal their ambulance.

“The 37-year-old female was extremely intoxicated and arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk in a public place. During her transport to cells, the female felt she could expedite her release by pulling down her pants and soliciting the services of the member,” he added.

“The female was lodged in cells and a small amount of Psilocybin (mushrooms) was located in (her) purse during the prisoner search at cells. Her blood alcohol content was 270mg%. Combined with the Psilocybin, the female was extremely delirious and held at Castlegar Cells.”

“She was released when able to function again.”

A call received earlier that month was even stranger:

On Aug 12, at 2:50 p.m., the Castlegar RCMP Detachment received a report of a male fornicating with a deer on Dove Hill walking trail, near 1600 block of Aaron Rd in Ootischenia, according to Cpl. Deb Postnikoff.

“The complainant advised that deer legs were noticed protruding from behind the vehicle, which was described as a white Ford Bronco-style with tail gate down and window that swung up,” she explained. “The naked male was described as chubby, five-foot-seven, with brown hair.

“Police attended immediately but extensive patrols failed to locate any vehicle, person, or deer.”
