River levels to decrease by just under 2.5 feet Saturday: BC Hydro

BC Hydro would like to notify the public that the discharge rates from Arrow Lakes Reservoir will decrease noticeably on Saturday, August 24th:
· At 7 a.m., the discharge rate will decrease from approximately 1,682 cubic metres per second (59,000 cubic feet per second) to about 1,557 cubic metres per second (55,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 8 a.m., the discharge rate will decrease from approximately 1,557 cubic metres per second (55,000 cubic feet per second) to about 1,416 cubic metres per second (50,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 9 a.m., the discharge rate will decrease from approximately 1,416 cubic metres per second (50,000 cubic feet per second) to about 1,303 cubic metres per second (46,000 cubic feet per second).
These changes are due to Columbia River Treaty coordination agreements.
When combined with the outflows from the Kootenay River, Columbia River levels at Birchbank are expected to see a decrease in water levels of about 0.7 metres (2.4 feet) from the current levels.
