A smash-and-grab in the wee hours of Monday morning saw two Trail men arrested according to Trail top cop RCMP Sgt. Mike Micentowich.

He said the store’s alarm went off at 3:52 a.m. on Feb. 11, bringing police to the Shopper’s Drug Mart located at 1305 Cedar Ave. in Trail. P

“Police discovered that a window had been broken with a cement block and merchandise had been stolen from the store,” he said, adding RCMP then viewed the surveillance video and tracked down two 31-year-old male suspects in downtown Trail who were believed responsible for the incident.

“Both suspects were arrested and taken into police custody (and) stolen items were recovered by police,” he said, adding both are Trail residents who are well-known to the RCMP.

“The matter is still under investigation. Both suspects remain in custody,” he concluded. ”The RCMP will investigate links to other recent thefts in the Trail area.”
