Last week Copcan focussed on paving business and residential driveways and the bottom lifts between 23rd and 24th Street, raising the manhole and water valve covers from 20th Street to 23rd Street, and landscaping and irrigation work within boulevards on the east side of the project.

Next week, you can expect to see:

  • finishing of an additional Allan Block wall;
  • raising the manhole and water valve covers between 23rd and 24th Street before final paving; and
  • landscaping and irrigation work within boulevard, including the installation of trees, irrigation piping for sprinkler heads, planter boxes and hanging baskets for banner poles; and
  • installation of traffic signs.

Traffic

As the contractor starts to prepare for paving, traffic patterns will change regularly. Drivers should watch signs and traffic controllers carefully. The contractor is anticipating traffic will increase early in September and is working on solutions to keep traffic flowing and minimize delays.

Please slow down! The speed limit in the construction zone on Columbia Avenue is 30 km/hr.

Did you know?

It might be hard to tell right now, but the manhole locations were carefully designed by the engineering consultant to be in the middle of the lanes, not under the wheel.
