In a press release issued this morning, Interior Health said water test results are now available online. The press release reads as follows:

Residents of the area impacted by the July 26 jet fuel spill at Lemon Creek are advised that the results of independent water testing conducted by Interior Health are now available at http://www.interiorhealth.ca/YourEnvironment/EmergencyPreparedness/Documents/IH%20Assessment%20-%20Lemon%20Creek%20Audit%20Sample%20Test%20Results.pdf.

Environmental Health Officers have been conducting site assessments of properties in response to specific concerns from residents about their drinking water. Staff have collected water audit samples at several locations where potential impacts to drinking water supplies were identified, to complement the findings of the broader environmental sampling effort by the Ministry of Environment and agencies contracted by Executive Flight Centre and posted on Aug. 19 (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/main/lemon-creek/).

Results from all Interior Health samples collected to date show no traces of fuel or fuel components. This data further supports our assessment that there is no undue risk to human health from surface or groundwater in the area.

Interior Health will continue to monitor to determine whether further testing is required.

Residents with questions or concerns regarding drinking water and food safety should contact IH Health Protection at 250-420-2220 for more information.
