T2T this month: fun, free and environmentally friendly

Clearing away clutter, finding free stuff and saving the planet – Trash-to-Treasure day is fast approaching, and you don’t want to miss out!

As a celebration of Earth Day (April 22) the RDKB and RDCK are joining together to promote a Kootenay-Boundary wide tradition which celebrates Reuse as a waste reduction action. As stewards of our landfills, your regional district hopes that by giving a longer life to our items we can reduce the amount of resources that end up in our dumps. Now in our fourth year of partnership, we are asking residents to make this a day to have some fun and clean out the clutter.
It is a day where we invite residents to identify the items they have stashed away and are no longer using. Just put these items at the end of your drive with a big ‘FREE’ sign on them. Other residents will then know that they are welcome to cart the items away
It is a day when we encourage residents to get out and do something fun with ‘waste reduction’.
We also want to make it clear to people that they are responsible to clean up the items at the end of the day. No municipal staff will come around and take their junk away.
We encourage you to let your residents know via newsletters and posters (see attached). The RDKB will be mailing a quick info sheet (with a FREE sign on the back) to all residents.
Mountain FM is joining us in promoting our T2T day by sending the Community Cruiser to some communities. Keep your eyes open and ears on!
I also want to let everyone know that the RDKB will be offering backyard composting workshops.
The dates are:
