A Celebration of Life will be held for Zachary Larsen at the Pentecostal New Life Assembly Church at 602 7 Street in Castlegar this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Source will also be posting, the morning of the service, a tribute story talking about who Zach was, so community members can join in celebrating the 19-year-old’s life, rather than knowing him only through the tragic circumstances of his death.   His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to FreedomQuest Youth Services (250-304-2676), Castlegar Search and Rescue (250-326-7277).   Larsen went missing June 6 and, after a massive search effort, his body was recovered from the Columbia River June 21. A forensic exam was conducted June 24, but police have not yet released any information as to Larsen’s cause of death.   An impromtu memorial has also been established at Mushroom Park (at the corner of 2 Street and 6 Avenue), where mourners are leaving flowers, candles, teddy bears and other tributes under photographs and drawings of Larsen.   Almost 4,000 people joined a Almost 4,000 people joined a Facebook page dedicated to the search for the young man, and more than 1,800 people are now members of a Facebook group called “Rest in Peace Zach Larsen”, where they are offering condolences to Larsen’s family and friends and sharing anecdotes describing who Larsen was to them and why they’ll miss him.
