73-year-old man stabbed repeatedly; Castlegar woman to face attempted murder charges
A 73-year-old Castlegar man is in Trail hospital after being repeatedly stabbed early this morning, according to police.
“At (about) 12:15 a.m., Castlegar RCMP received a report of an elderly adult male being the victim of a stabbing incident within his residence,” said Staff Sgt. Dan Seibel. “RCMP attended the 800block of Sixth Avenue (and found he) had been repeatedly stabbed with a kitchen knife in various areas of his body.” Seibel said the man is now in stable condition, and his 50-year-old daughter, also of Castlegar, has been arrested, with police recommending Attempted Murder charges. “The suspect is scheduled to have a bail hearing later this afternoon (Sunday) …police will be seeking that the suspect be remanded in custody, with a court appearance date of Aug. 18.” He said the suspect’s name will be released folloing the approval of criminal charges on Aug. 18.
