RCMP continue to seek help to find Owen Rooney
RCMP are again calling for the public’s assistance in locating Owen Kiernan Rooney last seen in Grand Forks, B.C. Rooney has been missing since Saturday, Aug. 14, and his family has added their plea for help. Family members have flown in from Australia to assist in the search.
Rooney, a 24-year-old Australian, is 5-feet-9-inches (175 centimetres) tall, and is 161 pounds (or 73 kilograms.) He has short brown hair. He has two tattoos – one on his shoulder, about three inches in diameter, which is a circle with a Celtic star around it, and the other is on his calf and may be a logo of a triangle with a kangaroo about the size of the bottom of a coffee mug.
Rooney was last seen at the Boundary Hospital, where police had dropped him off after picking him up on the highway hitchhiking. RCMP said they saw bruising on him and took him to the hospital, which he voluntarily entered. Family members said he was on his way home from Shambala music festival when he went missing. Rooney left all his belongings behind.
Police are not aware if Rooney left the Grand Forks area to make his way back to his last known address in Kelowna.
The family and the RCMP are asking the public to help locate the young man.
