The Board of Education of School District No. 20 (Kootenay-Columbia) has completed their search for a new Superintendent with the appointment of Greg Luterbach as Superintendent of Schools, effective August 1.   Luterbach  will be replacing Jean Borsa, who is retiring effective July 31. This completes the selection process that the Board undertook starting in early February.

Luterbach has held a variety of positions in his career as an educator.

In the summer of 2005, he and his family moved to our community and began working with School District No. 20.  Luterbach originally held the Director of Technology portfolio but after one year had the Director of Human Resources portfolio added to his responsibilities. A year ago, his title changed to that of Assistant Superintendent.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Greg as our new Superintendent,” said board chair Gordon Smith.  “Greg is well respected in our district and has demonstrated commitment to our staff and students. His leadership in the area of technology, for example, has positioned us to provide engaging, high quality learning environments for our students. ”  “I am excited to be able to serve our community as Superintendent,” said  Luterbach. “Over the past six years, it has been my pleasure to get to know our phenomenal staff. Each and every day I am impressed with the effort and commitment of our learning community to meet the needs of our students. I want to continue to build strong, positive relationships with our communities, trustees, staff, parents and stakeholders. As a parent of children that attend school in School District No. 20, I want the very best for my kids and all children. Improving life chances and opportunities are paramount for building a vibrant community and culture. I am proud to dedicate myself for the betterment of our communities and children.”  Smith summarized, “We recognize the effort and significant contribution of Superintendent Jean Borsa and look forward to working with Greg as we continue to support the journey of all learners.”
