Selkirk College support staff in Nelson, Castlegar reach tentative agreement
Selkirk College has reached a tentative two-year agreement under the government’s 2010 mandate with the Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada.
The tentative agreement covers approximately 227 support staff employees at the college in Nelson and Castlegar. Union members are expected to vote on the agreement in the coming weeks.
Selkirk College president and CEO Angus Graeme appreciated the work of the bargaining committees to bring the tentative agreement forward.
“The work of our support staff is critical to our success as a college, and this agreement will provide the context for a continued positive working relationship,” he said in a press release.
Government has already announced its intention to control spending on wages during this round of bargaining. To protect jobs and preserve vital services British Columbians depend on, government does not have any funding for wage increases as collective agreements are renewed.
