The Castlegar Farmers Market opens for its fourth season, but now in a new location, on Saturday, July 9. It will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Station Museum behind City Hall.

A compelling collage of fresh fruits and vegetables, home-baked goods, plants and handicrafts will greet the visitor. Come check out the fruit pies and fresh bread, spicy pickles and felted slippers, water plants, herb plants, cool hats, delicious jams, woodcrafts and quilt crafts. Belly dancing by the Mystic Dream Dancers will kickoff the Opening Day Celebration. Music and fun will highlight the 2011 Castlegar Farmers Market evocative debut. This year’s market promises to be bigger, better and more fun. For a change of pace, the public is invited to a soaring celebration of local freshness. “We’re up to 16 vendors now, but we’re like Jell-o …there’s always room for more,” said manager Deb McIntosh. “It’s a great way for people to come together, support local vendors and soak up the downtown Castlegar atmosphere.” Vendors as well as musicians, dancers and other entertainers are being sought.
Public: Free. Vendors: $5. New vendors are welcomed and encouraged. Call McIntosh for more information at 250-365-6440.
