On July 12, members of the BC NDP Kootenay West Constituency Association held its nomination meeting at the Castlegar Community Complex.  A large and enthusiastic crowd of supporters acclaimed Katrine Conroy as the NDP candidate for the next provincial election.

In her acceptance speech, Conroy said she was humbled to again have the opportunity to represent the people of Kootenay West.  She is looking forward to fighting for and becoming part of a progressive government under Premier Adrian Dix. Conroy noted that Dix is a leader who cares about rural BC.        The party’s new leader, Adrian Dix, attended the meeting and gave a rousing speech praising Katrine for her great contributions to the people of her constituency and as a leader of the opposition caucus in Victoria.  Dix continued by giving his assessment of the state of our province.  There were several ovations as Adrian discussed issues of importance to the people of BC, illustrating how the NDP would support a government for working people, families, small business, seniors and students.  He called for a British Columbia where everyone matters.        Constituency Association President, Duff Sutherland, noted that the association executive was ecstatic that Katrine was willing to be the party candidate again in a possible fall election.  “She has been a great MLA for this area and would be a strong member of an NDP government in Victoria.” Sutherland also asked that if anyone wanted to get involved in the upcoming election campaign they could contact him at 250-365-2779.
