A City councillor who wants to do away with “in-camera” municipal meetings in BC could have his day at the Union of BC Municipalities convention this week in Vancouver, the Vancouver Province reports.

Prince George councilor Brian Skakun said municipal politicians should not be able to hide behind closed doors with in-camera meetings.

Skakun was convicted and fined for leaking in-camera information recently.

He was asking other delegates to the UBCM not to support a motion by his own city recommending harsher fines — or even dismissal of elected officials — who contravene in-camera protocols of the Community Charter.
