Despite outshooting their opponents 38 to 23, the Rebels fell to the Spokane Braves in home-ice action Friday night, in front of a crowd of more than 250 spectators …then battered the Braves in Spokane 3-0 the following night.

On Friday night, the Rebels came out strong in the first period, scoring two goals  (#12 Diego Bartlett assisted by #28 Connor Bowen & #3 Daylen Pearson, then #7 Stuart Walton assisted by #3 Daylen Pearson & #16 Anthony Delong), and only letting one Braves puck into the Castlegar net (#23 Brycen Fisher assisted by #20 Sean Collins).

The Braves rallied, though, keeping the second period scoreless.

The third period saw the Rebels nail a power-play goal by #27 Tyler Jones, assisted by #2 Aaron Brewer, giving Castlegar a 3-1 lead … a lead they ultimately relinquished as the Braves took two power-play goals, tying the game with just 2 minutes, 14 seconds left in regular play.

An intense overtime brought the Braves a win after #16 Zak Kroll shot the puck and it squeaked in the “5-hole” – tough break for the Rebel’s goalie #1 Connor Beauchamp.

Beachamp wasn’t kept down long, though – Saturday night, he handed the Rebels a 3-0 shut-out on the Braves’ home turf.

The weekend’s action keeps the Rebels squarely in third place in the KIJHL Neil Murdoch Division, trailing the Nelson Leafs and the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.

The Rebels are back on the road this weekend, facing Creston Valley Friday and Beaver Valley Saturday, then hosting the Fernie Ghostriders at the Complex Sunday.
