The waiting is over–events for the Rossland Mountain Film Festival presented by the members of the Nelson & District Credit Union begin on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The Art of Flight – Premiere

Thursday, November 24th at the Flying Steam Shovel Pub

Entry by donation, film begins at 8pm

Two years in the making, this film gives iconic snowboarder Travis Rice and friends the opportunity to redefine what is possible in the mountains.

Solitaire

Friday, November 25th at the Gala Event presented by Teck Trail Operations

Gala tickets $35 – available online and at RossVegas Boardshop

In the high desert of South America, winter takes hold, devouring bleached bones and abandoned shacks.  Born in the spires of Argentina’s Las Lenas, a lonely two-year journey begins:  wandering the length of a continent from Peru’s Cordillera Blanca to Chilean Patagonia, Solitaire fuses western inspired tales of backcountry gables into landscapes never before visited on film.

A 2011 ski film based in Europe which follows the athlete Bene Mayr, Paddy Graham, Tobu Reindl, and Thomas Hlawitschka as they take you from backcountry booters to some of the most creative park shots every filmed.  Filmed by local Andre Nutini.

Edge of Never

Saturday, November 26th at RSS Auditorium

$5 entry, kids 5 and under free, All Ages Shows begins at 2:30pm

A documentary feature film set in the world of big mountain skiing, The Edge of Never is a real-life coming of age saga about the tribe of skiers who challenge the biggest, most dangerous mountains in the world.

Through the film you will be brought along on our adventures as we visit the locations that we’ve always wanted to ride and create the lines that express our vision of mountain biking.  Featuring riding from all over BC, including local rider Mike Hopkins and local Rossland trails.

The Asgard Project

Sunday, November 27th at the Rock Cut Neighbourhood Pub

Entry by donation, films start at 3pm

A Banff Mountain Festival World Tour Film, it is a ground breaking film which follows top climber and Berghaus sponsored athlete Leo Houlding ambitious expedition to make the first free ascent of Mt. Asgard’s daunting north face – regarded as one of the most difficult big walls in the world.

40 Days at Base Camp

Sunday, November 27th at the REDroom, Prestige Mountain Resort

Free entry, film begins at 5:30

A feature length documentary film that puts a knife through the heart of the Everest myth with stories of climbers being interwoven with the daily life at base camp.  It provides a modern take on the transformation of Everest from what was once a revered, sacred space to the mountain theme park it is sadly becoming.
